An outdoor potential transformer (PT), also called a voltage transformer, is an oil-cooled instrument transformer for accurate metering and reliable protection up to 33 kV. Laxmi Engineering, Bhopal, manufactures single-phase and three-phase outdoor PTs for 11, 22 and 33 kV, with the desired secondary voltages and accuracy up to class 0.1.

Types and designs
• Dead Tank type - A double bushing design and the most commonly used. It is reliable, easy to handle and has fewer leakage points.
• Dead Tank Top-Bottom design - A single bushing design with a top tank and a bottom tank; the core-coil assembly is placed in the bottom tank.
Ratings - 33 kV, 22 kV and 11 kV potential transformers, single-phase and three-phase, with multiple secondary windings.
