Epoxy Resin Cast Current & Potential Transformers — up to 33 kV

Epoxy resin cast current and potential transformers by Laxmi Engineering

Epoxy resin cast current and potential transformers are instrument transformers cast in epoxy resin, used for metering and protection in indoor (M.V.) switchgear. Laxmi Engineering, Bhopal, manufactures resin cast CTs up to 33 kV in slot/window, bar and wound types, and dry-type single-phase indoor PTs up to 33 kV.

We offer a wide range of resin cast transformers for various metering and protection applications, as per customer requirements.

TestingDesigns type-tested at NABL accredited labs; in-house 400 kV impulse testing laboratory; all routine tests done in-house

Types and designs

• Slot CT / Window CT - Does not have a primary winding of its own. The incoming or outgoing insulated / shielded cables are pulled through the hole, or "window", in the middle of the CT.

• Bar type CT - A bar of suitable size and material forms an integral part of the transformer. The bar type CT is fully insulated to the switchgear voltage.

• Wound type CT - Has a primary winding of more than one full turn wound over the core. The magnitude of the secondary current depends on the turns ratio of the transformer.

Resin cast potential transformers (dry type) - Single-phase indoor PTs up to 33 kV, with the desired secondary voltages and accuracy up to class 0.1.

Applications

• Metering and protection in indoor (M.V.) switchgear.

• Switchgear manufacturing, with designs as per customer requirements.

Frequently asked questions

What is an epoxy resin cast current transformer?

It is a current transformer cast in epoxy resin, used for metering and protection in indoor switchgear. Laxmi Engineering makes resin cast CTs up to 33 kV in slot/window, bar and wound types, as per customer requirements.

What is the difference between slot/window, bar and wound type CTs?

A slot or window CT has no primary winding of its own; the insulated or shielded cables are pulled through the hole (window) in the middle of the CT. In a bar type CT, a bar of suitable size and material forms an integral part of the transformer. A wound type CT has a primary winding of more than one full turn wound over the core, and its secondary current depends on the turns ratio.

Which current and short-time ratings are available?

Resin cast CTs are available from 5 A to 3200 A, with short-time current ratings up to 50 kA for 3 seconds and accuracy classes 0.1, 0.2S, 0.5, 1, 3P and 5P.

Does Laxmi Engineering make resin cast potential transformers?

Yes. Laxmi Engineering manufactures dry-type, single-phase, indoor resin cast potential transformers up to 33 kV, with the desired secondary voltages and accuracy up to class 0.1.

Which standards and tests apply?

Resin cast CTs and PTs are made as per IS 16227 and IEC 61869. Designs are type-tested at NABL accredited labs, all routine tests are done in-house, and Laxmi Engineering has an in-house 400 kV impulse testing laboratory at its factory in Govindpura, Bhopal.
